Stress, Work and Your Life.

In a booming economy, like that of India, the style of life of people in general and that of the younger generation in particular, has vastly changed. Life has become hectic, jobs have become more demanding and availability of quality time with oneself, with ones family and dear ones, have tremendously reduced.

Though people carry fat paychecks back home from their work place, they also inadvertently carry some other items along with it.
These are called Life style illnesses.

Earlier, most of the illnesses were infection related. But the scenario has changed. Now days very many of the illnesses are lifestyle related.

Stipulated work hours of yesterdays are no more. Long, extended, target oriented work hours have become the present day work style with most of us.

Diseases originate in mind.
People are getting stressed up. Stress becomes a reason for various physical and psychological illnesses. Hypertensions, Cholesterol, Diabetes, Obesity are on the rise. India has the maximum number of diabetic people in the world. Every day heart attack alone in India is killing around 2000 people. One out of eight people in India are infected with Cancer.

The change in the urbanite life styles, inadequate physical activity, unhealthy food habits, alcohol and tobacco consumption, lack of quality sleep hours etc contribute very much for the present day health condition.

A Caution
One thing we need to keep in mind.
We cannot change Stress in the work place or in jobs. You are bound to get it. In the days to come, jobs could become more demanding.

Then what is the way out?
We can only change our response to it.
We cannot blame all the time our workload, responsibilities and jobs for all our health problems.
We can make the workload, tension, stress etc work against us or work for us.
We need to be more resilient.

We need to face Stress squarely. We need to understand stress, learn how to cope with it.
Once we do that we have an answer for most our day-to-day health problems.

Please note, we not only can manage stress but also can prevent and reverse very many of our illnesses.

Slight adjustments and change in our life style, food habits and our understanding help us to lead a life more peaceful, meaningful, productive, contributive and vibrant.

Our economy should boom. Per capita income of the country should go up. Our country should become a leading economic power. We also need healthy citizens to achieve all these, especially younger generation.

Keep in mind one thing always.
There are many people, your loving, near and dear ones waiting for you in a place called home, wanting you to be happy and healthy always.

They need you as much as our country needs you.
